Project was located on a ridge at a ski area which required some of the units to be founded on a micro-pile foundation system consisting of pipe piles driven into the sub-surface rock and attached to reinforced concrete foundation walls. Upper structure design consisted of high snow loads and high seismic loads with conventional wood framing, log and timber framing, and steel frame elements.

Gordon Butte Wind Farm Turbine Foundations, Martinsdale, Montana
Structural engineer on analysis and design of concrete footings to support 300ft tall wind turbines. Concrete footings were approximately fifty four foot hexagon shape by approximately eight feet deep. Design and analysis included reviewing loads and load combinations provided by wind turbine manufacturer, analysis and modeling of foundation support, concrete and reinforcing design of footing, and design of connecting elements connecting the turbine tower to the concrete footing. Also provided site observations during construction of the footings.
